Materials handling for polymer insulated power cables
Our materials handling technology ensures the highest demands on product purity and the residual moisture content of the polymer granulate. It is especially suitable for very demanding applications such as polymer insulated power cable production. All the components of the material handling system are designed to ensure a high degree of cleanliness and reliable drying of the material.
The dust free transportation and drying of the polymer granules before processing is an important prerequisite for high quality products, efficient production and trouble free manufacturing. Clean room design and closed material handling is recommended from the beginning to ensure top performance.
We have started a new approach in transportation and drying of insulated and semiconductive materials to supply cable manufacturers with tailor-made solutions.
Dust and contamination free transportation into drying bins or extruder hoppers is guaranteed by vacuum conveying or gravity feeding technology. Vacuum conveying technology offers most flexibility to plant building requirements and ensures dust free transportation with central dust separation. Gravity feeding technology is recommended for top performance manufacturing of high voltage and extra high voltage power cables and for vertical production lines.
Low temperature drying technology offers best process conditions for dehumidifying insulation and semiconductive materials. Due to the low drying temperatures of XLPE polymers, the process dry air flow has to be controlled safely, independent from any ambient conditions, to ensure dry and clean material.
